A guided encounter

Look closely.
There is a life in the details.

The guide connects the physical house with the people who lived, learned and worked here. The published tour brings together domestic details, historical interpretation and the building’s continuing use. Expect a guided, hour-plus visit through historically decorated rooms, with opportunities to look closely at period objects.

01 / Household life

Water, warmth & work.

The spring and fireplace kitchen offer concrete ways to understand domestic life. The published tour interprets how the household drew on the building’s practical features.

02 / People & objects

A life beyond the facade.

Period antiques and historically decorated spaces support stories of Dobbin, his household and later occupants. The guide supplies the connections that an object cannot explain on its own.

03 / A changing place

More than one century.

The tour connects the early household with the Civil War-era Zeigler family and the house’s present restaurant use. The published route includes a look into the current kitchen.

Make the visit your own

Good questions.
Clear next steps.

Can we arrange a group visit?

Call the house to discuss your group’s size, timing and route requirements. Group arrangements need confirmation; an inquiry does not reserve capacity.

Is the Square included in the indoor route?

The Square is a separate outdoor experience that can be explored independently. The house tour uses the organizer’s date-selection and reservation process.

What if the stairs do not work for my visit?

Ask the house about the actual entrance, route and any possible arrangements before selecting a date. The website does not promise a step-free version of the tour.

Where can I explore the history first?

Read the illustrated house history, then bring your questions. For directions and other practical details, see Plan Your Visit.
